ABOUT IPL TREATMENT

YOUR IPL TREATMENT JOURNEY

CONSULTATION

Your skin care specialist will perform a thorough skin analysis and discuss your expectations to devise the most effective treatment plan.

ANAESTHESIA

While IPL treatment can cause discomfort, akin to the snapping of a rubber band against the skin, a topical anaesthetic or cool gel is typically applied to the skin to minimise any discomfort.

PROCEDURE

The IPL procedure involves directing light energy onto the skin. The light pulses target unwanted pigment and hair follicles, without damaging the surrounding skin. IPL penetrates the skin layers, causing the pigment cells in your skin to absorb the light energy and convert it to heat, which breaks down the unwanted pigment or hair follicle.

AFTERCARE

Post-treatment, you may experience mild redness and feel like you have a mild sunburn. This is completely normal and should subside within a few hours. Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds after the treatment to prevent sun damage and uneven pigmentation. Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily is a must to protect the skin during the healing process.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

IPL skin rejuvenation is a type of Intense Pulsed Light therapy specifically designed to address various skin conditions and improve overall skin health. This treatment works by emitting broad wavelength light onto the skin’s surface, penetrating the skin layer to target pigment cells and hair follicles. As a result, it helps enhance skin tone, fade age spots, and improve the texture of aging skin. It’s a popular choice for people looking to reverse signs of sun damage or address other skin concerns.

Yes, IPL treatment can be used on different skin types, including dark and light brown. However, it is crucial to note that the effectiveness of the treatment can vary depending on skin tone. Darker skin tones absorb more light energy, which can sometimes lead to discomfort, uneven pigmentation, or severe scarring. That’s why discussing your medical history and skin condition with your skin care specialist during your initial consultation is important to ensure your IPL is safe and effective.

IPL treatments, laser treatments, and chemical peels are all effective methods for skin rejuvenation. However, they work differently. While IPL therapy uses broad wavelength light to target pigment cells and hair follicles, laser treatment typically involves a focused light source. Chemical peels, on the other hand, use glycolic acid or other chemicals to exfoliate the skin’s surface. Your skin care specialist can guide you in choosing the best treatment based on your specific skin concerns, desired outcomes, and skin condition.

Lumecca treatment significantly improves skin appearance by reducing or eliminating many common skin issues, including uneven skin tone, pigmentation, age spots, acne scarring, sun damage, and vascular lesions such as spider veins and port wine stains. This leads to a significant improvement in the overall complexion and skin tone.

After your Lumecca treatment, the pigmented lesions may darken and flake off over the following week, revealing a clear and even complexion beneath. There may be some redness and warming of the skin, which typically subsides within a few hours. It is crucial to avoid excessive sun exposure and protect the treated area from direct sunlight.

Lumecca treatment uses a more powerful and effective form of IPL therapy, allowing it to target pigmented and vascular lesions more effectively. Unlike traditional IPL therapies, Lumecca can treat a wider range of skin types, including darker skin types, with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Yes, Lumecca treatment can be used in combination with other therapies to achieve comprehensive skin rejuvenation. Depending on your specific concerns and skin type, we can recommend a treatment plan that may include combination therapies for optimal results.
